  1.           ARTISOFT NOW SHIPPING LANTASTIC(R) FOR WINDOWS(R) 95

  3.           (TUCSON, AZ -- January 3, 1996) -- Artisoft, Inc. announced 
  4.           today that it is now shipping the LANtastic for Windows 95 
  5.           network operating system, a 32-bit client and server version 
  6.           of the award-winning LANtastic network operating system.
  7.           The new software allows users to easily integrate the power 
  8.           and performance of Windows 95 PCs into existing LANtastic 
  9.           networks, forming a single LANtastic network from any 
  10.           combination of PCs running Windows 95, Windows, DOS and 
  11.           OS/2(R).  LANtastic for Windows 95 is available in 
  12.           software-only packages for 1, 5, 10 and 25 users, with per 
  13.           user costs ranging from $72 (MSRP on a 25-user package) to 
  14.           $119 (MSRP on a single-user package).  Upgrades are also 
  15.           available in software-only packages for one or five users, 
  16.           with per user costs of $79 and $60 (MSRP), respectively.

  18.           "LANtastic for Windows 95 is a must for us," said Melvin 
  19.           Kenoly, President of X-Ware Engineering, Vallejo, 
  20.           California.  "We need to be able to have our machines 
  21.           configured for different environments -- DOS, Windows v3.1 
  22.           and Windows 95 -- yet have those same machines 
  23.           interconnected to a common server.  The LANtastic for 
  24.           Windows 95 network is the only solution."

  26.           FEATURES

  28.           A unique feature of the LANtastic for Windows 95 network 
  29.           operating system is that it allows users on Windows 95 PCs 
  30.           to access and share files, CD-ROMs and printers with DOS-, 
  31.           Windows-, or OS/2-based PCs on a LANtastic network.  In 
  32.           addition, LANtastic for Windows 95 has enhanced features for 
  33.           network administration, security and the network user's 
  34.           interface.

  37.           The new network administration feature allows users to view 
  38.           and add groups and users from a central screen with more 
  39.           direct navigating through the network.  It also includes a 
  40.           template feature, in which a profile of user attributes is 
  41.           created once and applied each time new users are added to 
  42.           the network.  The benefit is increased productivity for the 
  43.           network administrator.

  45.           In response to users' concerns about Windows 95 security, 
  46.           Artisoft also enhanced the LANtastic for Windows 95 network 
  47.           administration, with four new levels of access for 
  48.           supervisors.  This feature provides different levels of 
  49.           access, depending on whether the supervisor needs low, 
  50.           middle or high access and management privileges within the 
  51.           network.

  53.           Current LANtastic customers will find a familiar, yet 
  54.           updated, user interface in LANtastic for Windows 95 that 
  55.           works well with the Windows 95 desktop and feature set.

  57.           The LANtastic for Windows 95 network operating system 
  58.           includes a new LANtastic Custom Control Panel which allows 
  59.           users to customize tabs and buttons, displaying as much or 
  60.           as little information as they want.  Users can change 
  61.           settings to suit their needs for color, tab names, icons and 
  62.           applications, all from the Control Panel.  Plus, they can 
  63.           drag and drop up to 100 different application icons onto 16 
  64.           user-definable tabbed pages, and set password protection for 
  65.           each page.

  67.           Through the Custom Control Panel, value-added resellers can 
  68.           incorporate their logo or company information into "about" 
  69.           screens, and add their applications or utilities to provide 
  70.           a custom solution for the end user.

  72.           The software-only kits now shipping consist of a single 
  73.           CD-ROM, a license diskette and documentation.  In addition 
  74.           to the software-only kits, Artisoft expects to ship 
  75.           LANtastic for Windows 95 two-user starter kits and add-on 
  76.           kits later this month.  The two-user starter kits, priced at 
  77.           $349 (MSRP), will include software, two network interface 
  78.           cards and cable.  The add-on kits with software, a network 
  79.           interface card and cable will begin at $169 (MSRP).
